Vision Systems Electronically Dimmable Windows on display at APEX Expo 2015

September 28, 2015 By Aircraft-Completion.com

Vision Systems Energia Dimmable Window

Vision Systems, based in Lyon, France, will be at APEX Expo (Airline Passenger Experience Association) this week showing off their touchless-controlled dimmable window, Nuance Touchless, and its self-powered dimmable window, Energia.  Also on display will be their in-flight entertainment solution, Visi-Stream.

Electronically dimmable windows (EDWs) can provide passengers on VIP and commercial aircraft with a view while also protecting them from the sun. Vision Systems’ EDWs can be controlled from a touch panel directly on the window, a control panel, a wireless tablet or with integrated light sensors. The EDW system integrates with any Cabin Management System for a centralized control and are available in different tints, Venetian mode and also include a window or partition solution for complete privacy (fully dark or opaque white).

VIP completion centers looking to reduce turnaround time and have one less certification issue would be interested in the new solar powered Energia EDW. This wireless solution is not connected into the aircraft electrical system and produces its own energy via transparent photovoltaic cells built into the glazing of the window. Energy storage in a battery provides the EDW with electricity, which can allow a map light or a USB plug to recharge a mobile phone.

The glazing on the window is called WYSIPS® from Sunpartner Technologies and is also used on cars, trains, mobile devices and windows for buildings.

The Nuance Multizone Touchless is the first dimmable aircraft window controlled without any contact between the finger and the window. Passengers can adjust from the clear to the dark position, one after the other and from the top down like a Venetian blind, just by approaching their hand near the window and moving it upward or downward, and side-ward to set the desired level of opacity.

Visi-Stream is Vision Systems IFE system solution for the growing demand of customers for simultaneous streaming off wireless tablets. Visi-Stream offers Wi-Fi AVOD including “DRM approved” streaming, and various VIP options such as cabin management, video surveillance and interactive moving maps. The connectivity option provides internet access, email, video conferencing, and personal smartphone usage over VoIP with guaranteed voice quality.
