Astronics PGA Avionics launched many new products at the Aircraft Interiors Expo; including motion and lighting systems, IFEC components and cabin management systems (CMS).
Aspart of the lighting systems launch Astronics reviled two lighting systems that can be integrated into the seat or cabin.
The first product is Mila; a personal reading light. A passenger can touch the center of the light to turn it on and can set the position to get the desired reading angle. It combines a mood lighting effect with a primary lighting function and will be commercially available in the beginning of 2018.
Philea, the other new light, is designed to illuminate premium economy seats. It features a directional light beam, which dims via head capacitive control and delivers direct light for passengers. It can be mounted into the headrest of the seat and includes an embedded USB charging port, which works independently for the passenger in the seat behind.
The actuator family has also been expanded with the introduction of the Slim Linear Actuator, which is optimized for small spaces. It can move up to a 100 daN load, enabling motion in doors, pop-up TVs, privacy dividers, armrests, footrests, headrests and more. It has a low profile of less than 1 inch and weighs less than 1.7 lbs.
Astronics PGA Avionics has also launched the Carat Tools EMS (Easy Monitoring Solution); to be used on laptops and tablets. This new unified maintenance and configuration suite is designed to be used by technicians in the cabin for maintenance and on seat manufacturing assembly lines, providing control over the whole actuation system.
