Airbus makes plans to lower aircraft production numbers

April 8, 2020 By Aircraft-Completion.com

The decline in customers wanting delivery of aircraft has resulted in Airbus cutting back its planned production of Airbus commercial aircraft by about a third, the company announced on Wednesday 08 April 2020.

Due to the coronavirus covid-19 pandemic the airline industry now faces customer demand and utilization problems forcing them to dismiss, furlough and reduce pay for a large number of their staff. In the private and business aviation VIP completion centers have by large sent staff home and the request for jet deliveries is all but existent right now.

Airbus said the reduced schedule is designed to “adapt to the new coronavirus market environment.”

The production lines have temporarily stopped at numerous Airbus sites in Europe and North America due to the coronavirus health concerns.

Build numbers will now lower for all Airbus family product lines with the A320 family down to forty from sixty a month, the A330 family two a month from nine, and the new A350XWB line down to six a month when Airbus is in a position to safely get back to work.
