An interactive moving map for tablets or smartphones has been added by FDS Avionics to its do Capsule IFE solution. Passengers can use Glass Cabin to pan their devices up, down, right or left to alter the view and see the surrounding terrain in that direction.
According to Dave Dodson, marketing director at FDS Avionics, a passenger can point forward to see the view from the cockpit or point down to see what is directly underneath.
Glass Cabin provides an unhindered view of the surroundings of the plane in amazing detail. This adds an entirely new level of fun and interaction to an entertainment platform that’s already robust.
Glass Cabin functions along with the do 3D moving map, which is offered as an upgrade to the ‘do Capsule’, the heart of the ‘do Experience IFE’ platform.
Linked to a Wi-Fi router, the do Capsule can stream individual content to as many as 8 passengers. Content can be streamed to laptops, smartphones and tablets.
FDS Avionics provides a free ‘do Experience’ app for Android or Apple devices, which passengers need to install to use Glass Cabin.
