The Bombardier WAVE connectivity solution can now be fitted on all Global 5000 and Global 6000 planes as well as earlier Global plane models as a retrofit.
According to Jean-Christophe Gallagher, who is the vice president and general manager for customer experience at Bombardier Business Aircraft, existing Global plane customers can have the system installed at any of the Bombardier Service Centres.
They can benefit from a high-speed inflight connectivity and productivity solution and make the most efficient use of the time they spend on board the plane.
Customers can benefit from the comprehensive capabilities and flexibility of the service centre network and make the most of downtime by combining their installation with their next plane maintenance event.
Bombardier’s WAVE (Wireless Access Virtually Everywhere) leverages Inmarsat’s JetConneX solution and Honeywell Aerospace’s JetWave hardware.
JetConneX is powered by Inmarsat’s advanced Ka-band satellite constellation. Its steerable beams are designed to boost bandwidth in areas with high traffic and direct capacity where it is needed.
The first customer plane to feature a retrofit installation of Bombardier WAVE was a Global 5000, and the system was installed at the Singapore service centre. This Global 5000 plane’s passengers can now stage a video conference, stream online media and browse the Internet while they are flying.
