AviaAM Leasing, an aircraft acquisition, leasing and sales specialist, has delivered a Boeing 737-500 to KlasJet after a five-month modification by FL Technics.
According to Tadas Goberis, chairman of the board and CEO at AviaAM Leasing, they have been trying to supplement their diverse fleet with a big business jet that’s suitable for government officials, business travelers and professional sports teams.
They acquired the aircraft in a suitable condition for this type of modification and entrusted FL Technics with the challenging project execution. The result is more than they could have expected.
The plane was built in 1998 and was first used by Continental Airlines for charter and regional flights, with seating for 126 passengers in economy configuration. It was acquired by AviaAM Leasing in November 2016, and more than 50 design, maintenance and engineering specialists were involved in the modifications.
According to Romualdas Legetavicius, technical director at AviaAM Leasing, the project was very complex because of the wide range of technical changes that were required.
The changes involved basic interior design modifications, which included seat refurbishment and the introduction of new LOPAs. It also involved changing the seating configuration from 126 economy seats to 56 leather-covered business class seats.
The plane also received cold white lighting, new carpet cover, exquisite wooden design elements and a luxurious new livery.
The modified Boeing 737-500 jet obtained an EASA STC and airworthiness documentation from the Lithuanian CAA. It has already been reserved by the EuroLeague basketball team, Zalgiris Kaunas, later on in 2017.
